We disappeared for a while, here’s why…

If you follow us from our blog, Facebook or Twitter, you may have noticed that we have been completely silent on all fronts for almost 5 months now. We didn’t drop off the face of the Earth and the store was still up and running for everyone to buy great toys, food and other stuff for their birds. Unfortunately for the past 5 months we simply have not had time to keep up with our growing social network. Why? We were having babies (yes, plural!) – Claire Amelia and Emma Rose.

In November we actually moved our business from Denver to San Diego to be closer to family once we found out my wife and I would be having twins. Unfortunately, just weeks after arriving back in San Diego, my wife had to be put on hospital bed rest for almost 9 weeks. Our identical twin girls were born prematurely at 32 weeks on February 2, 2010. For the next 4 weeks, we were constantly visiting the hospital and our twins in the NICU. We finally got to bring them both home on March 6 and have been adjusting to life with 2 new people in the house. With all this craziness going on, we simply didn’t have enough time to keep up with maintaining everything for Hello, Bird! In fact, during most of this time our birds were living with other family members because we did not have the capacity to care for them while in the hospital so there was no fun photos or updates about our birds to report anyway.

However, we’re getting back into the swing of things and hope to get back to building a great bird community here at Hello, Bird!

Good Morning,

One of our directors notice that you sponsor parrot rescues in Canada? I was wondering how we would go about getting on your list. We our register as Not For Profit in Ontario. Have vets on staff that look after all in coming parrots. When we adopt parrot out we don’t charge an adoption fee, meaning money. This to us looks is wrong. We our not an abused pet store.

We do have a company that sponsors all our food and cages. But we lack funds for vet costs and toys. Any help would be great.
